Median Rents

The RTA monitors the residential rental market by analysing data it gathers as part of the rental bond custodial function as well as data released from other sources. Median weekly rents data is based on an analysis of new rental bonds lodged in each quarter. Data is updated for the March, June, September and December quarters.

Median rents are calculated for 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats or units, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses for selected areas.

Vacancy rates data

The Office of Economic and Statistical Research (OESR) conducts a quarterly survey of Queensland real estate agencies, primarily to gather data to measure vacancy rates for rental properties throughout Queensland.

The Housing Rental Vacancy Rates Brief summarises data from the survey. The data presented relates to vacancy rates of residential rental detached houses and units.
