How are bonds refunded?

There is a set process for refunding rental bonds. You must lodge a refund of rental bond (form R4) with the RTA by mail or over the counter. The RTA will only release the bond if all parties have signed the form. If a signature is missing, the RTA will contact the person whose signature is missing and give them 14 days within which to respond. If the bond amount is being disputed, the RTA's free Dispute Resolution Service can offer assistance to negotiate an outcome or, if this fails, you can apply to the Tribunal for a hearing.
