RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES AUTHORITY

Strategic Plan

A message from the Chairperson and General Manager of the Residential Tenancies Authority

This Strategic Plan outlines the future direction of the RTA for the next four years. The plan maintains our focus on the RTA's key strategic priorities: our clients, our sector and our organisation as we work together to support an
evolving rental sector.

The plan has been developed in the context in which the RTA operates including government policy, changes to the sector, community expectations and the economic, social and technological environment. The next four
years will be challenging for the RTA as it administers the new Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008, adapts to the economic environment through prudent management and responds to increasing client demands for services. This plan emphasises delivering quality services in cost-effective ways to achieve our strategic objectives.

The performance of our staff and our systems will be critical to the success of this plan. Guiding the RTA, will be our core values of client focus, leadership, governance, collaboration, impartiality and respect. Over the next four years we will continue to support our people, be environmentally aware, develop our business operations, maximise performance and maintain our financial sustainability. The RTA has a number of corporate support plans which will underpin this strategic plan by outlining specific activities to further the objectives from the strategic plan. Each year the RTA will develop its annual business plan which will detail specific activities to implement our strategies and we will report on our progress through our Annual Report.
