Preparing documents for conciliation

RTA conciliators are generally able to assist parties involved in disputes in a relatively short period of time after the lodging a request with the RTA. The time it takes to commence dispute proceedings will be dependant on documentation provided to the RTA.

The RTA should be provided with the full details, including:

  • receipts and invoices
  • rent records
  • entry and exit condition reports
  • any other claim related documentation.

Claims relating to bonds

The RTA encourages parties who are making a claim on the bond to assemble all relevant information, including the information listed above. It should then be sent to the RTA with the dispute resolution request - form 16 (PDF 36kB) or as soon as they are aware that there may be a dispute.

The RTA Conciliator is then in a position to commence the dispute resolution process and unnecessary delays can be avoided. This can lead to quicker settlements or appropriate referrals to the tribunal.

If the RTA does not receive the required information the commencement of the  dispute resolution process may be delayed. This could result in a referral being made to the tribunal if the other party cannot be provided with full details of the claim being made.
