There are several documents which must be given to a resident within a week of them moving into rooming accommodation. - Rooming accommodation agreements (form R18)
Providers or residents in a privately run boarding house, hostel or rooming style student accommodation must sign a rooming accommodation agreement. An agreement is a legal contract between the person renting the room and the provider. It is important to understand and follow the conditions set out in the agreement. - Paying rent
There are rules that providers and residents need to follow when it comes to paying rent. - Rental bonds
A bond is any money paid in addition to rent when moving into a room. This money gives the provider financial protection if something goes wrong during the tenancy. - House rules
There are rules which all people renting a room need to follow. A new resident should see a copy of the house rules before they sign an agreement.
