General tenancy COVID-19 variation agreement Form 18d

As a result of legislative amendments to the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008, there is a currently a freeze on evictions due to rent arrears for tenants experiencing financial hardship due to the impacts of COVID-19.

With many Queenslanders impacted by COVID-19, the RTA encourages tenants, property owners and property managers to work together and find agreeable solutions.

This variation agreement form can be used to document and record any agreements and shared decisions made when negotiating temporary changes to rental arrangements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

IMPORTANT: This variation agreement complements and does not replace the current tenancy agreement already in place. All other terms in the existing tenancy agreement remain the same and legally binding.

Agreed arrangements and COVID-19 special terms could include, but are not limited to:

  • rent variations
  • terms of entry
  • variations to an agreement end date
  • who is/isn’t permitted to live in the property
  • next steps at the end of the rent variation period.
