The Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) is hosting two free 90-minute seminars for landlords and property managers in Mackay at the Souths Leagues Club on Tuesday 19 June.
The seminars will provide an overview of tenancy rules and regulations in Queensland and answer commonly-asked questions to help landlords and property managers understand their rights and responsibilities under the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 (the Act).
RTA Senior Community Education Officer Lynn Smith will introduce the RTA’s services and cover topics including abandonment, water charging, ending an agreement early (lease break), common disputes and how to resolve them.
The free dispute resolution service provided by the RTA will be explained. Progress and outcomes of recent compliance activities within investigations will also be discussed.
There will be opportunities to meet RTA staff, ask specific questions and get clarification on ways to comply with the Act when managing tenancies.
Registrations for these seminars are essential as seating is limited.
For real estate agents and property managers, the 1.30pm seminar will be most relevant. Landlords who manage their own rental properties are strongly encouraged to register for the 6.30pm session.
