30 Mar 2023

Alert

From 1 May 2024, Queensland body corporate laws have changed including those relating to towing vehicles, pets, smoking and requirements to provide updated by-laws to tenants. Learn more at the Office of the Commission for Body Corporate and Community Management’s website.

Watch this 22 minute webinar to learn more about minimum housing standards and how these apply to units, apartments and townhouses with body corporate by-laws.

This webinar is jointly presented by the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) and the Office of the Commissioner for Body Corporate and Community Management (BCCM).

With the introduction of minimum housing standards from 1 September 2023 for new tenancies, and 1 September 2024 for all tenancies, it is important to understand who is responsible for repairs and the process for making them in a body corporate complex or building.

In this webinar we talk about:

  • minimum housing standards
  • tenancy laws around repairs, including repair orders
  • who is responsible for repairs when a rental property is subject to body corporate by-laws
  • the role of the Commissioner's Office and the RTA.

The webinar also talks through common scenarios which may arise when repairs need to be made to a rental property subject to body corporate by-laws.
