A successful week at Ekka 2026
We were pleased to attend the Ekka this August, where we met hundreds of Queenslanders and helped answer their questions about repairs, maintenance, rental bonds and more.
Visitors to our stall also had the chance to subscribe to RTA News for entry into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 grocery gift cards. Winners were drawn on 20 August 2026 and have been contacted to collect their prize - Kirra from Lowood, Emma from Forest Lake, and Kirsty from West End who claimed her prize in-person at the RTA's Brisbane office.

Collaborative Queensland Government information sessions
The RTA, the Office of the Commissioner for Body Corporate and Community Management (BCCM), and the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) recently hosted 8 joint information sessions across 4 locations spanning Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
Participants heard frontline insights from each agency on their role, emerging trends and data, and topics that overlap between our agencies and legislation. Each session also concluded with a panel discussion where participants had the opportunity to ask questions.
Through these 90-minute sessions, participants gained greater confidence in how each agency, their support services and relevant laws work together to support customers to sustain and manage their tenancies and relationships.
These events were a valuable opportunity to collaborate with other Queensland Government agencies while providing clarity on complex topics.

Continuing professional development sessions
Our continuing professional development (CPD) program has received strong interest, with recent sessions delivered in Ipswich, Brisbane, Caboolture, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.
These sessions focused on communication and dispute resolution, helping participants build their understanding of and confidence using techniques for preventing and resolving tenancy disputes.
Each session was sold out by an engaged audience. CPD is an excellent opportunity for property managers to expand their practical understanding of Queensland tenancy law, so we are pleased to see such strong enthusiasm from the sector.

NAIDOC Week Family Fun Day
This year, we marked NAIDOC Week by attending Musgrave Park Family Fun Day, a community celebration that showcases First Nations people, culture and heritage. More than 10,000 people attended this year’s event to recognise 50 years of NAIDOC Week.
Staff from the RTA’s Education, Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance and Enforcement teams worked together to answer questions, provide information and promote the RTA’s services, including Songlines, our dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander phone line. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi.

Events such as the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) LIFT 2026 conference and the Australian Resident Accommodation Managers Association (ARAMA) Trade Expo help us connect with property managers, real estate professionals and other industry stakeholders. These events also strengthen the partnerships we've built with peak bodies, helping us gather feedback and respond to emerging issues to maintain confidence within the sector.
Our Education team has also enjoyed connecting with Queenslanders at local pop-ups in shopping centres and libraries. Pop-ups allow us to engage with tenants, property owners and anyone with questions, providing tailored information to help you navigate renting in Queensland.
