If you are experiencing domestic and family violence in a rental property, there are steps you can take under the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 (the Act). You have rights even if you aren’t named in the tenancy agreement. 

What is domestic and family violence?

Domestic and family violence is where one person in an intimate personal, family or informal carer relationship behaves towards the other person in the relationship in a way that is violent, abusive, threatening or coercive.
