Rent payments for rooming accommodation in Queensland are covered by the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 (the Act).

House rules are rules about the use, enjoyment, control or management of rooming accommodation such as a boarding house, supported accommodation service, off-campus student accommodation and other rooming style accommodation. 

There are rules for the storage and disposal of goods and documents left behind by a resident when they leave rooming accommodation such as a boarding house, hostel, or off-campus student accommodation. 

There are steps that providers and their representatives must follow when entering the rooms of residents of rooming accommodation.

A Moveable dwelling tenancy agreement (Form 18b) gives a tenant the right to occupy a moveable dwelling for residential (not holiday) purposes. The agreement covers renting a caravan site, caravan, mobile home (manufactured home) or other type of moveable dwelling.
